From December 2011 to March 2012 a series of night time rail jam contests for freestyle skiers and snowboarders will be hosted by Whistler Blackcomb at the bottom of Whistler Mountain, next to the Fitzmmons chairlift. This is an open contest for adult and youth. Contestants must wear a helmet and mouth guards are recommended as they compete on a combination of flat boxes, rails and down rails in varying length and steepness.
Competitors have 1.5 hours to ride the rails and pull out as many tricks as possible, then a male and female winner will be decided. Winners receive a percentage of cash from the entry fees and all competitors are automatically entered for a draw prize, with various prizes from Showcase, Burton, Atomic, Nintendo, TELUS and many more up for grabs.
Entry fees are $15 and registration is at Whistler Village Showcase retail store. Registration time is between 5-6pm, and then contestants are to meet at the bottom of the mountain at 5.45pm for rules and briefing.
