It’s back!!!!……..With another La Nina predicted, us snow seekers wait in anticipation to see what the cooler temperatures and heavy snow precipitation will bring to Whistler mountain this season. The official date of opening for Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain is November 24th, however we could see an earlier opening date, if, fingers crossed Mother Nature works her magic.
Whistler experienced a La Nina last season with a record breaking snowfall of 51.8 feet, some of which has stayed over the summer and could lead to another record breaking season.
Watch the arrival of the winter season being documented by professional skier Mike Douglas. Over 6 days and nights who he will challenge the extreme conditions on top of Whistler Mountain.
The anticipation for Whistler and Blackcomb opening day leads eager people to camp overnight in freezing weather, at the base of the Gondola. People will wait up to 16 hours just so they can be the first in line and the first to ski. A great atmosphere of excitement as masses of skiers and snowboarders count down the hours, seconds for the opening at 8.30am- even at this time there will be a long line extending through the village stroll.
The first ride on the gondola, will it be you?
